Biography:
Rani mukerji is known as the Queen of Bollywood.What she lacks in height, she makes up in screen presence and powerhouse performances. She has famous actress Kajol for her cousin sister.
Rani made her debut in the forgettable Raja ki aayegi baarat in 1997 but people remebered her performance of a rape victim. She made it big in Karan Johar's directorial debut, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998 opposite SRK and Kajol. She has been a regular in the Johar camp since with a small role in K3G in 2001, a special appearance in Kal Ho Naa ho in 2003 and the role of an adulterous wife Maya in 2006 KANK.
With Mujhse Dosti Karoge in 2002, she became a regular in the Yash Raj camp. She has since acted in YRF's Saathiya, Veer Zaara, Hum Tum, Ta ra Rum Pum and Laaga Chunari mein daag . Rani is also dating YRF's head honcho, Aditya chopra, though the affair has been denied by both parties.
Rani has won a total of 60 awards and though all her performances are excellent, she is most remembered for her brilliant portrayal of deaf-mute-blind Michelle McNally in Sanjay leela bhansali's Black in 2005, starring opposite Amitabh Bachchan. The film was critically and commercially acclaimed winning several awardsincluding the National Award.
On the personal front, Rani has been linked to Govinda and Abhishek Bachchan in the past. Rani shared good chemistry with Abhishek in movies ike Yuva, Bunty aur Babli and KANK.
Rani has worked with all the Khans in several movies. To name a few, in KANK and Chalte Chalte, she acted with SRK. In hum Tum and Ta ra Rum Pum, Saif is her co-star and in Chori Chori Chupke Chupke and Baabul, Salman was her co-star. She worked with Aamir in Ghulam and Mangal Pandey: The Rising.
Rani is the only bollywood actress to be invited to be invited as a guest of honour to the state dinner to greet General Pervez Musharraf in Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's company. She also performed in the closing ceremony of 2006 Commonwealth games in Melbourne.
Rani is one of Bollywood's supreme acting talents and highest paid actresses. Her next release is Kunal Kohli's Thoda pyaar Thoda magic in June with Saif Ali khan.
